SYCORAX PINE "I have no more ambition for this book
than that some day someone will be lying in bed
and read out a single line
- and that their companion will turn away from them in silence..."
- Don Paterson, "The Book of Shadows" ~
Thanks, everyone! Apart from my suffering from an absurd case of stage fright (it has been about a year and a half since I last taught), I think it went well. The students were wonderfully talkative, and I burbled on and on introducing the first weeks reading. Afterwards a number of students came up to me tell me that they liked the first day, and a few also wanted to express concerns about whether they were up to the level of difficulty or the workload of the course. I talked them through their anxieties, but the nicest thing any of the students said to me was "I can't take the first semester of this course, because of a schedule conflict, but will you be teaching the second semester as well?"
Hey, lots of luck!
Good luck!!
Good luck, Ariel. I read lots of teacher's blogs and I have to say, I'm kind of glad I didn't go into that profession.
